Culture thrives in Cambridge and Guernsey County, where music, theater, history and the arts intersect to create a vibrant community.

The Cambridge City Band holds the honor of being Ohio’s oldest continuously operating community band. Since 1841—long before the Civil War—this historic group has delighted audiences with free summer concerts at Cambridge City Park and appearances at local events.

In downtown Cambridge, the Cambridge Performing Arts Center (CPAC) brings regional productions to life in its historic theater. From comedies and dramas to musicals and youth performances, CPAC blends professional polish with hometown talent. The Pritchard Laughlin Civic Center also serves as a vital hub, hosting concerts, theater, expos and special events that draw crowds from across the region.

For a taste of Americana, the Pennyroyal Opera House in nearby Fairview offers one of the area’s most unique experiences. Built in 1830 as a church, this lovingly restored venue now hosts regular bluegrass concerts featuring local musicians and nationally known performers—kids 12 and under get in free.

Art lovers will find plenty to enjoy at the Salt Fork Arts & Crafts Festival each August. Held at Cambridge City Park, it showcases artists from across the country alongside live entertainment, making it one of Ohio’s premier juried art festivals.

History and heritage run deep, too. At the Guernsey County Genealogical Society, visitors can explore local archives and trace their roots. And throughout the year, the Living Free Events series enriches the cultural scene with uplifting Christian concerts and guest speakers at Pritchard Laughlin.
