In 2026, Ohio will highlight the vibrant, inspiring stories told through public art across the state. Murals Across Ohio is part of America 250-Ohio, a multi-year commemoration inviting all 88 counties to help tell the story of this great state—past, present and future.
From colorful walls celebrating hometown heroes to bold images reflecting local culture and innovation, murals are powerful expressions of community pride. Through this initiative, Ohio’s artists, stories and the places that make Ohio unique are being honored.
Featured murals capture historical milestones, celebrate unique cultures, or envision a brighter tomorrow. New mural sites will be added to the map throughout 2026. Currently, more than 100 murals are in the pipeline for unveiling!
In Guernsey County, two murals help tell our story!
Cambridge’s Hopalong Cassidy Mural pays tribute to a hometown hero, William Boyd. Boyd, a beloved actor, made quite a name for himself as the famed cowboy star Hopalong Cassidy, first on the big screen in the 1930s and 40s, and then on television in the 1950s.
The Patriot Park Mural in Byesville, Ohio, is a vibrant, patriotic-themed artwork installed in the village’s new Patriot Park, created to honor first responders and members of the U.S. military. It serves as a focal point of the park—along with flag displays and a fountain—and reflects community pride and tribute to everyday heroes. The mural was unveiled at the park’s opening during the Jonathan Bye Days Festival in 2025. The Statue of Liberty is located to the right of the mural, symbolizing freedom and liberty. The soldier on the left, opposite the Statue of Liberty, represents those who protect our freedom, and the people in the middle represent the everyday Patriots who can serve and perform their duties because of those freedoms and liberties.
Murals like these are more than works of art; they’re reflections of who we are as a community. Through Murals Across Ohio, Cambridge is celebrating the artists, the stories and the places that make Guernsey County and Ohio unique.
