At The Wilds, (an animal park owned and operated by The Columbus Zoo) you can step into the African savanna without ever leaving eastern Ohio. Hop on an open-air safari and get up close to camels, giraffes, zebras and more as they roam freely, or try a zipline tour before dining with a view at the rooftop Terrace Grill.
Head to the Deerassic Park Welcome Center for a learning experience about the local ecosystem and wildlife with an emphasis on fun. Kids will love the center’s slides and interactive activities, or head outside to watch the resident deer herds graze or kayak alongside them.
Salt Fork State Park offers endless ways for sunny, splashy fun. For example, the immersive Storybook Trail places children in the pages of the charming picture book “Wonder Walkers” by Micha Archer, a story about two young outdoor explorers.

Both can tap into their inner artist (from April to October and special holiday dates in November and December) at the National Museum of Cambridge Glass, eyeing 10,000 sparkling glassware pieces and browsing the gift shop; you can even try your hand at creating your own rubbings from etching plates.
Lake day rained out? Inner Golf Links provides endless indoor entertainment.
