Hunting – Cambridge/Guernsey County, OH

Southeast Ohio and Cambridge/ Guernsey County in particular offers  a plethora of outdoor adventures. While Ohio may not be as widely known for its white-tailed deer hunting as other states, some of the largest trophy bucks in the nation come from the Buckeye State.

Plentiful deer and a thriving population of wild turkeys provide great opportunities for hunters. Ohio’s hunting seasons, especially in the winter months, feature a variety of game, including deer, turkey and pheasant. Youth hunt days, archery, muzzleloader and regular firearms seasons are available, as well as some continuously open seasons. Ohio offers a lottery for controlled hunts.

Guernsey County offers a variety of hunting options at Salt Fork State Park. https://ohiodnr.gov/static/documents/wildlife/wildlife-area-maps/saltfork.pdf. There are also many places for hunters to stay while in our area. https://visitguernseycounty.com/what-to-do/lodging/stay/all.html

We also have a beautiful facility dedicated to the education of deer and wildlife for youth and families to enjoy at Deerassic Park Education Center that offers outdoor activities during youth camps, an interactive wildlife display and the Ohio Whitetail Deer Hall of Fame, plus the opportunity to view deer. https://www.deerassic.com/

Hunters can also take in  some of Ohio’s beautiful scenery while enjoying the outdoors. Guernsey County’s patchwork of rolling hills offers spectacular views especially in the autumn when the leaves turn  fiery shades of red, orange and yellow.
