Aesop's Fables

Living Word Amphitheater
6010 College Hill Road, Cambridge

In the bountiful array of children’s literature, no author is better known than the Greek story teller, Aesop. A former slave who was physically disfigured and suffered from a speech impediment, Aesop possessed a rear and valuable knowledge; he could read and write. By his wit and cleaver turn of phrase, he was freed by his master and became known for his storytelling. Using animals as characters, he served up life lessons and morals that are still relevant and entertaining today. In this production, Aesop is an old man recalling three of his best-loved stories re-told by a cast of life size puppets-and you! Following the performance Aesop will stay to discuss his animal friends and answer questions.

Dickens Victorian Village

Historic Downtown Cambridge
Olde England and history come alive in Historic
Take a trip back in time and experience old-world England as historic downtown Cambridge, Ohio, is charmingly transformed into a Dickens Victorian Village. Visitors are invited to stroll amidst 60 vignettes of 180 lifelike figures representing classic scenes from Victorian society. This innovative public art exhibition can be enjoyed by families, couples, and groups alike -- an experience that will engage the senses as you explore the charming streetscape, striking historic architecture, and eclectic shops and eateries of Cambridge.
The Dickens scenes are stationed along Wheeling Avenue at each antique lamppost and bench between 6th and 11th Streets. Wheeling Avenue is also the historic National Road/Route 40 and features an outstanding streetscape of original buildings from the 1800s.
The Dickens Victorian Village vignettes are comprised of life-sized and hand-made mannequins wearing real vintage clothing. The faces for each character are individually sculpted and painted by local artists. The displays include engaging depictions of classic Dickens-era scenes and figures such as Bob Cratchit and Tiny Tim, the town crier, groups of carolers (that actually “sing” classic carols!), a bucket brigade, lamplighters, school children, street peddlers, and Father Christmas, all posed in active scenes that appear frozen in time. "The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge"

Cambridge Performing Arts Centre
642 Wheeling Ave, Cambridge

Shows will be held December 3-5 and 17-19
Fridays and Saturdays at 7 pm, Sunday at 3 pm

The Trial of the Century! A year after his miraculous transformation, Ebenezer Scrooge is back to his old ways and is suing Jacob Marley and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future for breaking and entering, kidnapping, slander, pain and suffering, attempted murder and the intentional infliction of emotional distress. The ghosts employ Solomon Rothschild, England's most charismatic, savvy, and clever barrister. Scrooge, that old penny pincher, represents himself. One by one, Bob Cratchit, Scrooge's nephew Fred, solicitor and philanthropist Sara Anne Wainwright, and the ghosts themselves take the witness stand to give their account of the night in question.  When all is said and done, the audience is reminded that the spirit of caring and giving should be every day, not just once a year. Adults $10, Seniors and students $8, children under 3 free. Information: 740-432-7958 or
